Press release on SPC's rollout with Intersport

‘Retail-hardened’ systems reduce ownership costs, while providing a more engaging customer experience for leading sporting goods retailer INTERSPORT UK has issued an update on the electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) systems it is specifying as part of a nationwide store roll out.

The sporting goods retailer revealed late last year that it had chosen technology provider NCR Corporation and its partner SPC International to provide new EPoS systems for its stores.

It will deploy NCR RealPOS tills, which the provider said would minimise downtime, reduce training time and enhance the customer experience with fast transactions.

Delivering return on investment

The new systems were installed at the first 50 INTERSPORT stores in May, with subsequent deployments to be introduced throughout the chain over the next 24 months. The company has also selected NCR receipt printers, cash drawers and barcode scanners as part of the integrated EPoS solution.

The deployment also involved Retail IT, a specialist retail provider that installed and supports software used on the PoS.

“We chose to work with NCR and SPC because of their experience working with retail organisations similar to our own,” said Tom Foley, general manager at INTERSPORT.

“Introducing their ‘retail-hardened’ PoS solution in our stores provides a significant return on investment and greatly enhances the customer experience by saving time at the point of transaction.”
